Summer Newsletter 2014

The summer months at S.O.S. are a wonderful time of reflection, planning, and anticipating another year of ministry opportunities.  This summer was unique in that our Zambian Board of Directors held its first regular board meeting in August.  I attempted to preside over the meeting using the marvel of FaceTime telephone technology.  Unfortunately, technology still requires a power source in order to be utilized to full capacity.  The city of Chipata had been experiencing regular power outages and such was the case on the day our meeting was planned.  I wasn’t able to get a connection via Facetime, but I’m so thankful for the willingness of our board members to continue with the scheduled meeting despite the inconvenience.   All meeting agenda items were discussed and voted upon.  Our organizational structure is solid and we are making good progress with our ministry goals.

CHIEF MNUKWA GRANTS HIS APPROVAL - I was so pleased to receive notification from Robert Zulu that Chief Mnukwa has given his approval and will be writing a letter of recommendation that will be forwarded to the Minister of Lands in Chipata requesting that S.O.S. be given a title deed to the property that has been designated for our MVEVI project.    S.O.S. is so indebted to Mr. Zulu for his tireless efforts on our behalf.  To God Be the Glory!

FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES -
One of the great joys of being the founder and chairman of a non-profit ministry is the opportunities I receive to share our outreach with various demographic groups.  God has been so faithful to supply our needs through generous donors, and I’m so thankful that we are able to call upon individuals and businesses to support our work at the grassroots level.  We have several fundraising opportunities planned for the next three months, and I’ve summarized them below.  Thank you for your generosity and willingness to support these endeavors.

Sounds of Sisterhood The pre production phase of the project is almost complete and the Cd should be ready to mail out by the end of October.  Click this link to order your copy and hear a sample of the music.  http://www.sisterhoodofservants.com/soundsofsisterhood.php

2nd Annual $10-n-10 for Zambia Fundraiser
Our goal this year is to raise in excess of $5000.  100%  of our net proceeds will be used toward the  development of our MVEVI project .  You can help us give the gift of clean water, literacy classes, primary and secondary education and vocational training to thousands of villagers in Zambia by simply setting aside at least $1 a week for the next 10 weeks.  Click this link for more details.

Closets to Cash Used Clothing Drive
– We are hosting our first clothing drive in October and are anticipating great results.  Many volunteers are donating their time to this endeavor, and I’m especially grateful to Pat Ezell for her enthusiasm and organizational  skills in coordinating this project.  Click this link for more details

The past four months have been incredible!  We have just resumed our SOS Girls outreach activities after taking a break for the summer, and I believe this will be our best year of ministry and physical growth.  Please continue to pray for us as we seek to be a positive voice of influence to this generation of young women.  I can’t say thank you enough to all of you that partner with Sisterhood Of Servants prayerfully and financially.  Thanks especially to those of you that have chosen to invest your hard earned income with us on a monthly basis.  Our organization is small, but our heart is BIG!  We continue to trust the Lord to provide for our every need.   2014 will be AMAZING!
