Now therefore perform the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to will, so there may be a performance also out of that which ye have.  For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.  2 Corinthians 8:11-12

To say that we had a busy spring, would be an incredible understatement.  There is so much for which to celebrate and be thankful to the Lord.  As the photos below illustrate, we celebrated the end of a very successful 1st year in S.O.S. Girls with a spring awards banquet.  Members were acknowledged for their selfless acts of service to the Jacksonville community.  A couple of weeks later, friends of mine and I spent the day in the studio recording music that will be compiled into a musical cd called the Sounds of Sisterhood.  Lord willing, all of the music will be recorded by next winter, and the cd will be released spring 2014.  Also pictured are the wonderful students from Kevin's Pestke’s congregation that are in enrolled in the Bush Literacy School in Chipata, Zambia, Africa.  Praise the Lord for his goodness in allowing us to see the fruit of much labor (adults are learning to read!)

Zambia, Here We Come!

We capped off the spring with a fundraising drive called $10 – N – 10 for Zambia.  We encouraged people to set aside $1 a week for 10 weeks to help fund our outreach ministry to the bush families in Chipata.  Praise the Lord for every prayer partner that has prayed faithfully for our endeavors.  Praise the Lord for every generous donor that made a financial contribution to our work; more than $5500.00 was generated through our various fundraising activities!  100% of net proceeds will be used implement phase I of our Global Sisterhood Initiative™,  which includes fresh water well drilling, supplies for literacy classes, upgrades to the rural maternity clinic, distribution of layette kits for newborn babies, and bible club activities for the children.  Kimberly Barreras, from Silver Lake, Wisconsin, will be joining me on the trip, as well.  Our tickets have been purchased, and we board the first leg of our flight on July 25th.  I would appreciate your prayers for this journey as she and I minister to the people and get a first-hand look at the ‘lay of the land’ which will help us determine the most effective means of moving forward with Phase II of our outreach in Zambia.  Thank you again for your enthusiastic support of this ministry.  Please visit our website often or find us on Facebook to follow progress of the trip to Africa. Exciting days are ahead!

 Blessings ☺
