TWIN OAKS HOMELESS SHELTER HERB FUNDRAISER (2010)
On a very cold day in November (temps. were below freezing), S.O.S. Girls stood outside various locations and kindly asked grocery store patrons if they would be willing to purchase food & toiletry items for the shelter or donate $5.  To say "thank you" each donor was presented with a pot of fresh herbs or recipe card pack.  $889.50 was raised in just 8 hours of fundraising!

CHRISTMAS COOKIE BAKE-A-THON (2010)
Those S.O.S. Girls are one mean, cookie-baking-machine!  140 DOZEN cookies were mixed from scratch, baked, bagged and delivered to patrons of a local soup kitchen and residents of a local assisted living facility.  It was so much fun being able to work in a professional pastry kitchen!

"MANICURE MANIA" AT WALNUT GROVE ASSISTED LIVING (2011)
S.O.S. Girls surprised residents at the facility with an afternoon of pampering and conversation.  Several of the ladies in attendance took advantage of the paraffin hand spa treatments we were offering before having their hands massaged and manicured. Each of the residents also received a little "flower pot friend" - hand made by the girls during one of our regular monthly meetings.

CARE NET CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER (2011)
The girls spent their craft time at two of the regular meetings constructing these "baby keepsakes." They will be given to the clients who come to Care Net to receive counseling and/or services.  The scripture verse reads:  I will praise thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made...Psalm 139:14

K.R.H.E.S.T CLOTHING EXCHANGE (2011)
Every Spring. Krhest Homeschool Group hosts a gently used clothing exchange. Clothes of all sizes, from baby to adult are made available to the general public, free of charge. S.O.S. Girls spent a fun Friday night sorting and organizing for the main event that was held the next day.  They all just ooohed and aaahed over the baby clothes.

2011 END OF THE YEAR SPRING BANQUET
S.O.S. Girls were honored for their dedication to serving the community and displaying the heart of a servant.  Members and guests enjoyed an afternoon of food, fellowship, picture taking, games and door prizes.  It was the joyful culmination of an incredible year!

In the summer of 1990, a very special, family friend hosted my first bridal shower.
She had the corsage, pictured on the left, made especially for the event. I've kept it
ever since.   At the beginning of the luncheon, each S.O.S. Girl was presented with
a corsage  (pictured on the right)  as a keepsake of her first year in the program.

Each member received a Certificate Of Merit in recognition of the
many hours she spent serving in the community.

S.O.S. GIRLS JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA
Our headquarters moved from Wisconsin to Florida in the Fall of 2011, and with it came the opportunity to mentor a new group of young women.  There's lots of memory-making ahead!
